     Permillia ‘Mae’ Boltinghouse Head, 79, of Queen City, MO passed away Wednesday evening, March 13, 2019 at Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO.
     Mae was born March 17, 1939 to Cleo and Thelma (Kirby) Boltinghouse on a farm East of Bedford in Taylor County, Iowa. After the passing of her mother on October 6, 1940 her father met and later married Juanita Lucas on August 20, 1942 and later adopted Mae. She was raised on Grandpa Whipple’s farm until 1945 when they moved to the Cundy House in Sharpsburg, IA. In 1947 the family relocated to Wayne County, IA where she attended the school in Sewal and graduated from the Seymour High School in 1958. In 1960 she began classes at the American Academy of Cosmetology in Des Moines, IA and received her Beautician’s License in 1961. After receiving her license she worked with her mom in the beauty shop in Allerton, IA until November of 1963. On November 23, 1963 she married Oscar Dean ‘Doc’ Head in Unionville, MO. To this union of nearly 51 years, 11 children were born; Orval and wife DeAnndra Head of Humeston, IA, Doug and wife Kim Head of Derby, IA, Kenny and wife Lori Head of Stewartsville, MO, Mike Head of Humeston, IA, Lewis and wife Tammy Head of Unionville, MO, George and wife Shawna Head of Unionville, MO, Gerald Head of Savannah, MO, Robert Head of Olathe, KS, Jean and husband Will Davenport of Sparta, MO, and Jenny and husband Kevin Bearinger of Bradshaw, NE; 29 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister Lora Belle and husband Ted Shonts of Venice, FL, sisters-in-law Betty Head of Unionville, MO and Wilma Hines of Burlington, IA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband ‘Doc’, one son James Head, granddaughter Kate Bearinger, and her parents.
Mae spent much of her adult life on the farm near Newtown, MO where she resided with her husband and children. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, attending church, helping with Bible School, sewing and needlework, growing flowers, and watching butterflies.
     A graveside service for Mae will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Scobee Cemetery, in Pollock, Missouri. Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan is handling arrangements.
     Memorial contributions are suggested to go to the Scobee Cemetery.
