William Alfred (Bill) Shultz

 

            William Alfred (Bill) Shultz, 91, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away October 12, 2017 at Putnam County Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

            Bill Shultz was born October 2, 1926 in Milan, Mo., the oldest son of Raymond and Eva (Meeks) Shultz, who preceded him in death. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Milan High School in May 1945. He was inducted in the U.S. Army in May 1945 and served in the Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged in January, 1947.

            In April 1950 he married Cleta Banner and she preceded him in death in February 1956.

            On May 2, 1958 he married Louise Atkins who survives of the home.

            He is also survived by one daughter, Theresa Werteen of Chillicothe, Mo and one son, Raymond Shultz and wife Sheila of Sedalia, Mo, six grandchildren, Shelly Hornaday and husband Jeff of Seymour, IA, Amy Keeney, Mooresville, Mo, Jeff Green and wife Ellen, Baltimore, MD, Jason Green and wife Shauna, Buckner, Mo, Riley Millis, St. Joseph, Mo and Rachel Shultz of Sedalia, Mo, several great grand children, and great great grandchildren, one son-in-law, Paul Green, one brother-in-law, James Banner, one sister-in-law, Jean Elam, and several nieces and nephews.

            Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Green on May 13, 2009 and son-in-law, Virgil Werteen on May 2, 2009, one brother and two sisters.

            Bill was employed at FM Stampers Co. in Milan, the MO State Highway Department at Milan for 20 years, and was a custodian at Milan C-II School for seven years before retiring.

            He enjoyed Country and Bluegrass music, going to Bluegrass festivals and camping.

            A memorial service for Bill will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, October, 15, 2017, at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:00 PM. A private burial will be held following at the Lemons Cemetery.

            Memorial contributions are suggested to either the Sullivan County Senior Center or the Putnam County Senior Center.
