Waverly Lois Harris

 

            Waverly Lois Harris, 92 years old, of Milan, Missouri passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Life Care Center in Brookfield, Missouri.

            Waverly was born September 6, 1925 in rural Green City, Missouri to Luther and Alta (Hawkins) DeVore. On September 6, 1942 in Kirksville, she married Clayton W. Harris, he preceded her in death on January 20, 2009.

            Survivors include: two daughters, Beth Glaze of Kansas City, Missouri; Billi Ann Graham and husband Bob of Kearney, Missouri; a son, Clayton Ray Harris of  Milan; 8 grandchildren, Brenda Avilas (Ed), Christi Matthews, Amy Davis, Rebecca Croskey (Adam), Carrie DeForest (Joe), Jill Herring (Randy), Erin Chupp(Chris), and Faith Ducommun(Eric); 16 great grandchildren, Tyler Davis, Chase Davis, Graham Davis, Aybree Croskey, Kylee Croskey, Brielle DeForest, Brynlee DeForest, Hunter Aviles, Abby Herring, Clayton Dean Herring, Emma Herring, Derek Chupp, Riley Chupp, Harper Rae Chupp, Henry Ducommun, and Eli Ducommun; one sister, Avalee Smith (Bill) of Alpena, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Clayton; 4 brothers, Vernon DeVore, Neil DeVore, Dorence DeVore, and Arlin DeVore; and one sister, Vera Woodside.

            Waverly was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Browning, Missouri. She had worked at Stanbury and Lucky Tiger in Brookfield, she also was a cook at the Browning school for several years. Waverly helped her husband, Clayton in their trucking and farming businesses. She was a member of the Hope Circle, and was once a member of White Oak Quilting Club. Waverly enjoyed cooking for anyone and everyone. She liked sewing and traveling, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

            Funeral services for Waverly will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, November 27, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Browning. Burial will follow at the White Oak Cemetery, North of Browning. A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:00 PM. Ruschmeier Funeral Homes is handling arrangements.

            Memorial contributions are suggested to White Oak Cemetery.
