Paul Edwin Muir
Paul Edwin Muir was born Oct. 21, 1915 to William Len and Nora Ellen Muir in Greencastle MO. He had an older brother Floren Leroy Muir born in 1912 and a younger brother Alden who was born in 1923. Paul was raised in Greencastle, and graduated from High School in Kansas City, MO. In 1934 Paul joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. for 21 months and worked through a couple different states.
At the end of the CCC term in 1936, Paul returned to where the Muir family was living at that time, in Devil’s Lake North Dakota. He then worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling company.
After the Pearl Harbor bombing on 12/7/41, Paul was drafted in the Army, but enlisted in the Navy in 1942. Paul served in the Navy for 21 months at Norfolk VA, Oakland CA, and the islands of New Guinea. During Paul’s enlistment, he met and married Helene Wolfe. After the war Paul settled in Chicago with Helene and her family, and tried occupations such as plumber and upholsterer.
In 1957 Paul and Helene moved out west to Denver CO and settled. In the mid sixties Paul started working for the Postal Service during the Christmas season part time. Paul went on to be the longest part time worker in their history. Helene passed away in 1972. Paul continued living in Denver until his passing May 14, 2017. Paul is left behind by a nephew, Donald Muir and his family.
A graveside service for Paul will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017 at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, Missouri. Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
