Judith Ellen Shinafelt
Judith Ellen Shinafelt, 73, of Green City, Missouri passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the St. Luke’s Hospital On The Plaza, Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born in Pollock, Missouri to Burnice Levern “ Little Kid” and Emily Nadine (McCollum) Schoonover. Judy grew up in the Pollock community and attended school in Milan, Missouri.
On September 3, 1961 she married Star Richard Shinafelt. Judy lived in Pollock with family while Star was stationed over seas in the Airforce. They resided in Bettendorf, Iowa, Ottumwa, Iowa and Bloomfield, Iowa before moving to Green City. While living in Bloomfield Judy was employed with Uncle Bob’s Restaurant. Judy was always a homemaker and mother. Spending her adult life caring for her family.
She was a member of the Order of Easter Star, Parents Teacher Association, American Legion Auxiliary, Lady Lions Organization, and the Green City Chamber of Commerce. Judy served on the Central Missouri Regional Water Commission for several years.
Judy was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church, Dunnville Baptist Church and was currently a member of the Green City First Baptist Church. She also attended the Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Star and brother in-law Max Probasco.
She is survived by her daughters, Starlene Shinafelt of Green City, Susan Martsching (Brent) of Moulton, Iowa and Sheila Billington (Kenny Potter) of Green City, three grandchildren, Shelby Billington (Corie Smith), Kalen Martsching (fiancé Natalie Potter) and Shayla Martsching, one brother, William and wife Janet Schoonover and sister Pauline Probasco, several nieces and nephews and special friend Dean Harris.
Judy was a warm vibrant lady who loved God and people. She cherished her family and friends. She will be missed.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Green City. A scheduled visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 27, 2017 at the funeral home.
