Delbert Glen “Bill” Embree
Delbert Glen “Bill” Embree, 74 years old, of Green City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Bill was born on December 28, 1942 near Creston, Iowa to Harlan Delbert and Ivah May (Mills) Embree. On May 23, 1965 he married Ruth Ann (Kiger) Embree, she survives him.
Also surviving: one son, Darrin and wife Paulette Embree of Green City; two granddaughters Nicolette Embree and Delaney Embree; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, and four sisters.
Bill lived in Creston, Iowa in his early years until moving to Novinger, Missouri his Freshman year of High School, graduating from Novinger High School, then attending Northeast Missouri State University. Bill served in the United States National Guard from 1964 until 1970. He worked as a farm hand for Bud Smith, and following years for C.N. Childers and Doug Childers, he worked at MFA Service station until it closed. He joined with Barry Reid in the trucking business hauling lime, rock, and trucking asphalt for Bently Trucking for many years. Bill was a custodian at Green City R-I for several years before working at the Coop in Green City. Bill then worked at ASI for a few years before retiring.
Bill was a member of the Green City American Legion Post #365, the Green City Christian Church, and a past member of the Masonic Lodge. Bill enjoyed sports of any kind, especially NASCAR, and he loved anything his granddaughters were involved in.
Funeral services for Bill will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City. Burial will follow at Morelock Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday evening, at the funeral home.
